DoT extends telecom PLI scheme to 42 companies with outlay of Rs4,115 cr
The Ministry of Communications has approved 42 companies, including 28 MSMEs, under the PLI Scheme for telecom and networking products, providing a significant boost to prime minister Narendra Modi's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Design-led manufacturing will build a strong ecosystem for 5G.
As many as 31 companies, including 16 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and 15 non-MSMEs comprising eight domestic and seven global companies, have received approval under the production linked incentive (PLI) scheme of the department of telecommunications (DoT).
According to the report, the smartphone has already passed the R&D stage, and Jio is trying to purchase components for the gadget from businesses such as Tata Electronics.
