24 African militaries were represented by their contingents or teams of observers in the exercise. The 10-day exercise centered around the Humanitarian Mine Assistance and UN Peacekeeping Operations.

Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande on Wednesday said that India recognizes the need to collaborate with the African defence industry.

The India-Africa Field Training Exercise Afindex 2023 was conducted as a part of India Africa Army Chiefs' Conclave. India, Africa and 25 other countries participated in the exercise.
