ROH Final Battle recap, review: Los Ingobernables grow, Rush retains


Ring of Honor closed the year with their flagship PPV in
Final Battle. The event featured four title fights and set the table for a showdown between Los Ingobernables and the Foundation.
Let’s run it down from top to bottom.
ROH World Championship: Rush retained against Brody King. It was a battle of raw aggression versus raw power. Rush was in charge early with battering blows, then King turned the tide with a suicide dive. King made the fight ugly by slamming Rush on top of a pile of chairs then following with a running senton. Commentary put it over as King taking a page from Rush’s playbook to beat him at his own game.

Full disclosure, since ROH returned with the Pure title tournament, I’ve not been keeping up with my ROH television watching… but I know this show wasn’t “as planned”, as EC3, Bandido, Flamita, and Kenny King all had to drop out of the show with issues surrounding ROH’s Covid protocols. That meant that the Jay Briscoe/EC3 match dropped off the card entirely, while Flamita and Bandido were set to team up with Rey Horus to defend their trios titles against Shane Taylor and his Soldiers of Savagery (Moses & Kaun).

ROH Final Battle live results: Rush vs. Brody King


While things are a bit different than normal, Ring of Honor begins to close out 2020 tonight with its traditional biggest pay-per-view of the year.
Final Battle 2020 will be the first ROH PPV of the pandemic era. The show was taped in advance and is being headlined by Rush defending his ROH World Championship against Brody King.
The ROH Tag Team titles will be on the line as Jay Lethal & Jonathan Gresham defend against Mark Briscoe & PCO. Gresham is pulling double duty and also defending his ROH Pure Championship against Flip Gordon.
Dragon Lee will defend his ROH Television Championship against the winner of a four-way match from earlier in the night, Matt Taven & Mike Bennett are facing Vincent Marseglia & Bateman in a grudge match, and Danhausen will square off with Brian Johnson. If Danhausen wins, his ROH contract will become official.

Hey kids! It’s the last episode of Ring of Honor television before Final Battle, so I’m expecting a lot of things setting that up.
Cook’s ROH TV Review 12.14.20
– Quinn McKay welcomes us to Ring of Honor Wrestling and sets up our matches for tonight. The main event will be a Pure Rules match pitting Flip Gordon against Josh Woods. Also, we see the Bouncers making their return against Mark Briscoe & PCO in a match I’ll wager won’t feature much in the way of pure wrestling. Last week, Vincent got disqualified against Mike Bennett. We see the Pier-4 brawl, and then hear some words from Bennett & Matt Taven. Quinn asks if there’s a way this can all be settled. Bennett says he came back to defend his family, and the Kingdom will decide when this ends. Taven says they’ll face off at Final Battle.

ROH Final Battle Hour One to air for free, four-way match set


Ring of Honor has revealed some more information about Final Battle 2020.
It was announced today that Final Battle Hour One will air for free on HonorClub, Best on the Planet, STIRR City, Facebook, and YouTube. Final Battle Hour One will air from 8 p.m. Eastern time to 9 p.m. Eastern on Friday, December 18, with the Final Battle main card then airing on pay-per-view and HonorClub immediately after. ROH PPVs are now included with all HonorClub subscriptions at no extra cost.
Tony Deppen vs. Dak Draper vs. LSG vs. Josh Woods, which had already been announced for the show, will take place on Final Battle Hour One. The winner will advance to challenge Dragon Lee for the ROH Television Championship later in the night on the main card.
