Dignitaries bid farewell to the late Martti Ahtisaari at a ceremony Friday in Finland's capital for the former president and Nobel Peace Prize laureate who helped facilitate peace deals in the countries of many of the mourners.
SINGAPORE: Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has paid tribute to Finland's former president Martti Ahtisaari, who died at the age of 86 last Monday (Oct 16). "I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing," said PM Lee in a condolence letter to Finland's Prime Minister Petteri Orpo on Oct 20.
"It is with deep sadness that we have received the news of the death of President Martti Ahtisaari," the current president, Sauli Niinisto, said in a statement.
