Robert Vickers, one of the last living Birmingham Black Barons baseball players, is trying to find a metal suitcase containing his first contract and uniform that was lost in the Jan. 25, 2021 tornado.

A reward is now being offered in the search for a missing vintage suitcase belonging to a man who says he played for the Birmingham Black Barons during the team’s final years.

UPDATE: Hours after a curfew was issued in Fultondale, Fultondale Police Chief DP Smith confirmed three people were arrested for stealing from a damaged home in the tornado devastated area.
21-year-old Josue Villa, 18-year-old Ignacio Villa Ramirez and a minor are charged with third-degree burglary from a damaged house. All three are from Tennessee.

Ivey to tour Fultondale, Alabama tornado damage Wednesday morning

Gov. Kay Ivey is scheduled on Wednesday morning to tour the widespread damage from Monday night’s tornado that touched down in Fultondale and killed a 14-year-old boy, injured more than 30 people and left a trail of devastation in its wake, her office announced Tuesday.
Ivey is set to hold a press conference with Fultondale Mayor Larry Holcomb, Center Point Mayor Bobby Scott, Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency Director Jeff Coker and Alabama EMA Director Brian Hastings before surveying the damage caused by the EF-2 tornado, her office said.

Preliminary survey indicates EF-2 Tornado slammed Fultondale
According to a preliminary investigation, the National Weather Service in Birmingham has designated the tornado that devastated the Birmingham suburb as a "High-End EF-2 Tornado."
The storm whipped up winds around 135 mph, according to the NWS. 
'Like a bomb had been dropped'
Melvin Weldon was just about asleep with his wife when the tornado sirens triggered near his Lykes Boulevard home northeast of Fultondale. 
"We went to turn the TV on to find out where the tornado warnings were or what was going on. then we heard that noise," Weldon said. "We went downstairs, got our son down the stairs and about time we got to the bottom of the stairs is when it hit."

Deadly Fultondale Tornado Leaves One Teenager Dead Dozens Injured

Aside from injuring at least 30 individuals, the Fultondale tornado ripped through the area on Monday night which resulted in the death of a teenager and left a path of massive destruction in its wake.
According to the New York Times, Jefferson County Superintendent Dr. Walter Gonsoulin shared that the teenager who was killed was a 14-year-old ninth-grader in the area.
Gonsoulin also added that they are also currently determining as to how many students may be homeless after the Futondale tornado.
Due to the massive damage to the Fulton High School, officials doubt that the students can return to their classrooms this year.

Gov. Kay Ivey will hold a press conference at Fultondale City Hall at 10 a.m. today to discuss the aftermath of Monday night's deadly tornado.
Joining the governor will be Fultondale Mayor Larry Holcomb, Center Point Mayor Bobby Scott, Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Jeff Coker, as well as Alabama EMA Director Brian Hastings.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, Ala., said the severe storm impacted the Fultondale area of Jefferson County, causing "significant damage."
"We will inspect the damage to determine the strength of the tornado," the NWS wrote on Twitter.
Fultondale Police Chief D.P. Smith said a young man was killed when he was trapped in the basement of his home, according to AL.com.
