Time is running out to submit your nominations for the third annual Roscommon-Longford Garda Youth Awards.
With just over a week to go until the deadline for entries on April 30, 2021, local organisations are being urged to consider nominating a local young person or relevant group between the ages of 13 and 21 in one of four categories.
Awards will be considered for nominees who make their communities a better place to live.

Roscommon/Longford garda division seeks nominees for Garda Youth Awards

Roscommon-Longford Gardai in association with Roscommon and Longford County Councils announce the launch of their 3rd annual Roscommon-Longford Garda Youth Awards.
The Roscommon/Longford garda division is asking members of the public to nominate young people for the Garda Youth Awards before the end of this month.
The awards celebrate outstanding young people between the ages of 13 and 21 who are making a positive contribution to their local community.
The awards began in Cork over twenty years ago and even though they have only been running locally for the last few years, the division has also had two national winners already.

The search for a young person or group of young people who have achieved extraordinary things was announced today as An Garda Síochána in association with Netwatch, Carlow County Council and Kilkenny Co Council launched the Kilkenny/Carlow Garda Youth Awards.
Holly Farrell and Laura Delaney winners of the Divisional Group Award for establishing ‘Light up the Night’ - an annual tractor and truck run aiming to raise awareness of mental health, went on to scoop the National Group Achievement Award in 2020.

Jessica honoured with Garda Youth Award | The Clare Herald


A Clare teenager has been honoured with a Garda Youth Award.
The Garda Youth Awards, at Divisional and national level, celebrate outstanding young people aged between 13 and 21 years, and recognises the good work they are doing throughout their communities.
This year awards were presented to over 180 young people from Galway, Clare, Laois, Kerry, Dublin, Tipperary, Longford, Meath, Donegal, Kilkenny, Cork, Monaghan, Wexford, Limerick, Mayo, and Westmeath.
These young people have been acknowledged for making their communities a better place to live.
Jessica Whelan from Clare is one of those honoured in this year’s round of awards.
In December 2004, two year old Jessica Whelan lost the sight in her left eye in a tragic home accident while opening a Christmas present with her father.
