Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo has ordered the dismissal of Chief Brigadier CS without honors after he shot dead three people, including an army personnel, at RM Cafe, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, on Thursday.
As disclosed in a telegram that General Prabowo issued following the fatal shooting, Chief Brigadier CS, a member of the Kalideres police precinct in West Jakarta, must also be brought to court.
Issuance of the Telegram No.ST/396/II/HUK.7.1./2021, dated February 25, 2021, is aimed at preventing a similar incident from recurring in future, National Police spokesperson Insp. Gen. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono stated.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Coordinating Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Minister Mahfud MD quelled speculations over a figure of police chief candidate that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will select as General Idham Azis' successor.
"The police chief candidate's name, currently circulated on the social media platform, is just a speculation," Mahfud MD stated via his official Twitter account @mohmahfudmd that ANTARA quoted here, Tuesday.
As of Tuesday, President Jokowi had yet to send a final name of the successor of incumbent Police Chief General Azis to the House of Representatives (DPR), he noted.

Threats against West Papua reported to UN

AN urgent complaint was lodged with the United Nations yesterday over threats made by the Indonesian state after a provisional government was formed in West Papua earlier this month.
United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) leader Benny Wenda was elected interim president of of the disputed territory’s government-in-waiting, which was announced on December 1.
But he has been targeted by Indonesian state officials, including the head of the military, the deputy police chief and the speaker of parliament, who described his actions as “treasonous.”
“Any group or individual following Benny Wenda in trying to separate themselves from Indonesia will be met with firm action,” Police Commissioner Gatot Eddy Pramono warned.
