cathedral. this is as you say his first visit here as king. his 40th visit to northern ireland, and his car pulled up, his window was a little bit down, he was behind the barriers, a few feet away and i was so struck by the way that the way the king waved at the crowd before he was even out of the car and he was opened the door and was out and he waved. this is sort of not the way perhaps people have thought of the monarchy in the past, it is somewhat stuffy and a little bit aloof. this was a king connecting with the people of his country. he was met by the lord lieutenant on the steps of the cathedral here. introduced so some other local dignitaries. but even as he walked up those few steps into this old cathedral here, the cathedral that is known for being a cross community cathedral, even as he walked up the steps before he went in, he turned and his queen consort camilla waved again at the crowd before they went in. and it is expected, you are hearing the trumpets p ....

they respectfully ask the focus remain on the life and legacy of her majesty. that was the message from the spokesperson of prince harry? yes. in just a moment we will be seeing the coffin of the queen being taken out, greeted by the honor guard. anderson, you know, we ve heard it once, we ve heard it many times, it nonetheless remains very true. the queen over 70 years became the rock. she was the rock of this nation through thick and thin, ups and downs, family tref vales, triumphs and disasters, national crises in a very unstable rocky world. i think also people are reacting to that. again, it wasn t unexpected that a 96-year-old matriarch was going to passed away. we knew that she was getting weaker, she had retired not quite but reduced a lot her public duties. a lot of them had been handed over to prince, now king charles, and, you know, the fact that she spent her last waking moments performing it s extraordinary. her constitutional and profession ....

the belief among democrats that a horrible political climate is improving some. plus, a high stakes trip. multiple officials now tell cnn the house speaker nancy pelosi will touch down in taiwan, ignoring dramatic warnings from china. and this week, democrats promised to put a vets bill back on the floor a second time. that after republican rejection prompts angry viral protests. we begin the hour, though, with death and devastation and sadness in kentucky. more heavy rain coming tonight and adding to the already historic and destructive flooding. at least 30 people are dead, including these four children, 2, 4, 6, and 8 years old and swept away when strong flood waters ripped them from their parents. the governor says they will, quote, be finding bodies for we weeks. certainly the deadliest and most devastating of my lifetime. we can now confirm we have lost 30 kentuckians to this flooding and that is going to grow. we know about additional bodies beyond these 30 con ....

they ve uncovered new avenues of investigation, most recently those missing secret service text messages from january 6th. the d.a. inspector general is now launching a criminal investigation into what happened. as a former dhs official quote almost nothing about this makes sense. at best the loss of these texts is evidence of astonishing incompetence. it is indicative of darker motivations. i want to bring in ali vitali, barbara mcquade is a professor at the university of michigan law school, donelle works as a senior policy researcher at the rand corporation, katie benner is the justice department reporter for the new york times. donel, you ve been watching this unfold. could simple incompetence explain what happened here. at worst it s a conspiracy, at best incompetence. this is unconscionable to find that some of the evidence of a crime, and this wasn t a small crime, a large crime that happened at the capitol. any evidence should have been secured. the secret ....

dixon, all signs point to primary wins. that could be a good sign for democrats who believe far right candidates actually help them in the general election. plus we ll be watching trump s strength being tested in michigan and washington where he s trying to sink three of the house republicans who voted to impeach him after the capitol riot. for the first time since the supreme court overturned roe v. wade, voters will be heard on that issue and we ll get our first real clue as to whether abortion rights will be the rallying cry democrats hope it is. the focus is kansas, where voters will decide on a constitutional amendment that would clear the way for the state legislature to ban abortion outright. so far early in-person voting is up more than 200% from four years ago, but polling shows the vote itself. michael steele is with me. he s former chair of the republican national committee. at the big board, national split political correspondent steve kornacki. good to see ....
