A leopard was run over by a goods train on the outskirts of Surat city. The forest department has recovered the carcass for post-mortem. Leopard sightings are rare in the area, and trap cameras will be set up to monitor their presence. Gujarat has seen a rise in its leopard population.
The incident affected the movement of two trains, namely, the 12261 Mumbai CSMT-Howrah Express (downline) and the 11401 Mumbai CSMT-Adilabad Nandigram Express.
