Zaha reveals Arsenal talks but takes aim at Gunners chiefs for snub

Date published: Friday 8th January 2021 7:14 - Sam Charlton
Wilfried Zaha has revealed he held talks with Unai Emery over a move to Arsenal in the summer of 2019 but has questioned the Gunners’ decision to sign Nicolas Pepe instead.
Zaha has been frequently linked with Arsenal, including in the current window. That was no different 18 months ago, when the winger was pushing for an exit from Crystal Palace in order to play European football.
Arsenal were the favourites to sign him, particularly with Emery looking to make changes to his squad. The Spaniard was also keen on signing the former Man Utd winger.

We are now almost one week into the transfer window and things are starting to hot up.
On Thursday, the Gunners completed their first signing of the window, confirming the arrival of highly-rated 19-year-old centre-back Omar Rekik from Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin.
The youngster will go straight into the Gunners' Under-23s squad before looking to make the step-up to the first-team in the months and years to come.

Speaking on Jamie Carragher’s Greatest Game Podcast, Roberto Martinez has named one ex-Everton star in his dream five-a-side team alongside some all-time greats such as Johan Cruyff and Cafu.
Martinez was, of course, Everton manager for three years between 2013 and 2016, and despite working with some top-class players at Goodison Park such as Romelu Lukaku and Leighton Baines, the only ex-Everton player who made it into his dream 5-a-side team was someone he never even managed.
However, we don’t think any Toffees fan will disagree with the Belgium manager’s pick, as he chose Neville Southall as the goalkeeper in his dream team.
