Lisa Squire’s daughter Libby was killed by a stranger, in 2019. A 21 year old student, Libby was on a night out in Hull with her university friends when she disappeared, after getting into a taxi on her own. Her body was found seven weeks after she went missing, in the river Humber and there was evidence she had been raped. ....
Isle of Wight Radio Midnight - 6:00am Live and Local Podcast - Supporting Live Local Music On The Isle Of Wight 10 Year Anniversary For Isle Of Wight Sexual Abuse Service By Oliver Dyer This month (April) marks 10 years since the Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) first started supporting Isle of Wight residents. The ISVA, delivered by domestic abuse charity Hampton Trust, offers support to sexual violence and abuse survivors at a time when they are ready to come forward about their trauma, which could have happened recently or years ago. The project brings together education, health and local authorities, police and probation. They work with ‘offenders’ under the age of 25 in a six-week programme. This obviously benefits from shared skills and responses and responsibilities. During the prolonged lockdown I’ve been sorting out a lot of old files (I am now aged 82). I still have a 22-page booklet from 1989 – Driven to Crime from Glen Parva Prison in Leicester. It worked well – helping young lads ‘serving time’ because they had been banned or disqualified from driving/ not having a licence/ stealing vehicles. Like the Hampton Trust which Tom Orde describes its aim was to ‘engage appropriately’ with what we know of criminal behaviour. ....
