In the UK, for example, Covid-19 test samples of this strain increased from 63% in the week of December 14 to 90% in the week of January 18, WHO noted.

Americans will have to wear a mask while using any form of public transportation -- including buses, trains, taxis, planes, boats, subways or rideshare vehicles -- from late Monday to slow the spread of Covid-19, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has announced.
The order goes into effect at 11:59 p.m. ET Monday.
The order, signed by Dr. Martin Cetron, director of CDC's Division of Global Migration and Quarantine, says people must wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth while on public transportation and while waiting for their ride. The mask needs to feature at least two layers of breathable fabric and secured to the head with ties, ear loops or elastic bands.

Johnson & Johnson's Covid-19 vaccine trial is now fully enrolled

Johnson & Johnson's Covid-19 vaccine trial is now fully enrolled
From CNN Health’s Jen Christensen
Johnson & Johnson said Thursday that its late stage Covid-19 vaccine trial is fully enrolled.
The vaccine, made by J&J subsidiary Janssen, comes in a single dose. The trial now has about 45,000 participants.
The company said with the high rate of disease transmission among the general population in the United States, this number of volunteers should be enough to quickly get the data the company needs to determine if the vaccine works and to determine if it is safe.
J&J expects to have interim data by the end of January.

The US Food and Drug Administration is likely to recommend against giving pregnant women the upcoming Pfizer vaccine, a member of the FDA’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee said Thursday.
Dr. Paul Offit's comments came after the committee voted to recommend the vaccine for an emergency use authorization (EUA).
“I think the recommendation will be that pregnant women not receive this vaccine until we know more,” Offit told CNN’s Wolf Blitze
