Yukon to see reduced shipment of Moderna vaccine this month

The Yukon government says the territory’s next expected shipment of Moderna vaccines will be smaller than originally expected — with 4,500 doses coming early this month instead of 7,200.
Another shipment expected later this month will likely see a similar reduction, the government says.
The details follow an announcement last week that Moderna would cut its deliveries to Canada this month.

Yukon Party leader Currie Dixon says the territorial government is taking too long to roll out the COVID-19 vaccine.
Dixon said Friday the Liberal government hasn't delivered on a promise to have the Moderna vaccine in the territory within two days of approval. And he said Yukon failed to convince the federal government to release all the territory's doses at once.

Two of Canada's northern territories have received their first shipments of a vaccine to fight the novel coronavirus pandemic, officials confirmed Monday.
In a tweet, Health Minister Patty Hajdu said doses of the Moderna vaccine arrived in Yukon and the Northwest Territories, as shipments of the shot roll out across the country following last week's approval by Health Canada.
Hajdu's office told Global News that the two territories received 7,200 doses each on Monday.
