The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has returned all the vials of the so-called Covid-19 miracle drug Heberon which it had procured and subsequently imported illegally. On Wednesday, chief of the SANDF, General Rudzani Maphwanya, told Parliament that all vials of the Cuban-made drug had been returned.

The South African National Defence Force's (SANDF's) R200-million deal with Cuba that has seen the importation of an unregistered Covid-19 drug appears to be in jeopardy. Health regulators have given military bosses until Friday to provide evidence that the drug has been shipped back to Cuba, or face having it destroyed.
In March, then defence minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula appointed a three-person task team to investigate the SANDF's purchase of unregistered Covid-19 drugs.
