The 12-storey towers were declared structurally unsafe by IIT Delhi last year. After this, the DDA had asked the 1,200-1,300 residents to vacate the premises. Once they vacate, DDA will make preparations for the demolition of the towers.
Officials said that during the review of the report it was found that Tower H was “unsafe for human habitation” and should be vacated within 15 days.
In 2021-22, a study conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, at the behest of DDA, found that the building was “structurally unsafe”, and suggested that the best option was to “vacate and dismantle” the complex.
