Once referred to as the South Pacific or the Pacific Islands, Oceania is one of the most expansive regions in the world. Spanning from the eastern to the western hemisphere, the island nations and territories which make up Oceania share natural features such as sandy white beaches and sparkling blue water, but they also host similar concerns such as water pollution, rising sea levels, toxic waste and extinction of species.

The Global School Virtual Event Series: OCEANIA

The next program in The Global School Virtual Event Series will take place on Tuesday, February 9 from 5-7 pm and will focus on the Oceania region. 
The Oceania event will begin with two keynote speakers: an interview with Mele Wendt, MNZM from Wellington New Zealand and a talk from Professor Holger Droessler, Assistant Professor of History at WPI. Panels that review WPI's existing project centers in the region and discuss regional topics including climate change, nature and society, and indigeneity will follow.

The Global School Virtual Event Series is a yearlong celebration of The Global School at WPI. Monthly events will focus on global grand challenge themes and the work WPI is doing in collaboration with regional academic, corporate, government and non-profit partners around the world to address and deliver solutions with local impact.
