Kenya on Wednesday, January 20 recorded two cases of the highly infectious coronavirus variant that was first recorded in South Africa. The two were part of the new 136 positive Covid-19 cases recorded in the Eastern Africa country in 24 hours, bringing the country's total caseload to 99,444.

The numbers come from a sample size of 2,681 bringing the total number of tests conducted to 1,128,360. Of the cases, 49 are Kenyans while 16 are foreigners. A statement from the Ministry of Health (MOH) shows that 39 of the people who have tested positive are male while 26 are female.
