Nigeria risks losing generation to insurgency in North-East — Amnesty International By: Kingsley Omonobi, Abuja Fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have sustained their aggressive onslaught against the Abubakar Shekau’s faction of Boko Haram, killing and arresting some of the rival sect’s Commanders and terrorists, Sources familiar with happening among the terrorists groups have said.
They also captured some top Commanders of the Shekau faction like Mustapha Krimima Jaysh, Ba’akaka, Malkin Tijjani, Hirasama and Mallam Ballu who refused to surrender and attempted to escape.
The Sources said a large number of terrorists on gun trucks were recently sighted at Marte, East of Tumour, Tumbumma and Tumbuktu Triangle in Sambisa, after a heavy gun battle of supremacy between ISWAP and Shekau’s Boko Haram fighters at Garin Malam.

By Peter Egwuatu The Board of Directors, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Nigeria’s foremost brewing company has announced a total amount of N105.7 billion as revenue turnover for the first quarter, Q1 of the 2021 financial year, representing a 27 per cent increase from N83.2 billion in the corresponding period of 2020.
According to the unaudited report and provisional results filed at the Nigerian Exchange for the period ended March 31, 2021, the Company declared a Profit After Tax of N7.73 billion representing a 39.5 per cent increase when compared to N5.54 billion recorded for the corresponding period in the previous year.
Further analysis of the results shows that the cost of sales rose significantly by 36.6 per cent to N66 billion from N48.3 billion in 2020 while Marketing, Distribution and Administration Expenses also grew by 5.7 per cent to N25.45 billion in 2021 from N24.09 billion in 2020.

Chad’s transitional military council pressed ahead Monday with solidifying its hold on power after announcing a new government over the weekend that kept key ministries in the hands of allies.
Mahamat Idriss Deby, 37, was put in charge of the central African country earlier this month after the military announced that his father, Idriss Deby Itno, had been killed by rebels on the battlefield after more than three decades in power.
Political opponents immediately decried the army’s move as a coup d’etat, taking to the streets in protest.
Security forces violently put down one demonstration in the capital last week, fatally shooting at least six protesters, according to witnesses. Hundreds of others were detained by police.
