PTCB Adds National Community Pharmacists Association to Board of Governors

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (Sept. 27, 2022) – The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), the nation’s first and only nonprofit credentialing organization for pharmacy technicians, today announced the addition of B. Douglas Hoey, RPh, MBA, CEO of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA), to its Board of Governors. As the first new board member since 2001, NCPA joins PTCB’s five founding governing organizations to collaborate on guidance to best support and advance the pharmacy technician profession in all settings.

More Than 130 Healthcare Groups Express Support for Legislation Expanding Medicare Patients' Access to Pharmacist Services

WASHINGTON, May 25, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, more than 130 healthcare groups applauded the introduction of the Pharmacy and Medically Underserved Areas Enhancement Act (S. 1362, H.R. 2759), legislation that will ensure that Medicare beneficiaries in medically underserved areas have access to pharmacists' primary care services.
In a letter sent to the bill's original sponsors—Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA), Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D-NC), and Rep. David McKinley (R-WV)—the healthcare groups, including rural health advocates, consumer groups, and pharmacy organizations, call for the removal of restrictions on seniors' access to care.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (April 13, 2021) — The Illinois Pharmacists Association supports a bipartisan bill introduced in the Illinois Legislature by Senate Assistant Majority Leader David Koehler (D-Peoria). Senate Bill 2008 (SB2008) is designed to help correct the imbalance of pharmacy benefit manager power and incorporates patient access and reimbursement regulations. This bill not only has the full support of the IPhA and the National Community Pharmacists Association, but also several other health care advocacy groups, including the Illinois Council of Health-System Pharmacists and Illinois Association of Long-Term Care Pharmacy Providers.
 
IPhA Executive Director Garth Reynolds will be testifying in support of SB2008 at a hearing on Wednesday, April 14. NCPA Director of State Government Affairs Matt Magner will also testify at the hearing in support of the legislation. Also speaking are Ben Calcaterra, co-owner of Calcaterra Drug Company, and former pharmacy owner Beaux Cole.

Crank, PharmD, MS, BCPS, and Mark Glasper to the PTCB Board of Governors, effective January 1 and January 18, respectively.
