ANKARA, March 12 (Xinhua) -- "It is a happy day for me," says Tuna Akin, a 13-year-old Turkish teenager who returned to class on Wednesday as schools reopened amid a gradual COVID-19 normalization process in the country.
The boy from a private education establishment based in Incek suburb in capital Ankara was wild with joy when Turkey had to shut down schools in March 2020 following the coronavirus outbreak.
"He was so happy last year about the decision, went to the balcony of our house and shouted because schools are closed," said his mother Selin.
