Lim Tean: What economic benefits does Singapore derive from granting KTV operators a $50K grant to “Pivot” into an “F&B” outlet?
"First time I'm hearing about this grant. Why need to give grants so freely yet when asked to help the elderly cleaning the tables at hawker centre or help the elderly poor with monthly assistance, they talked and discussed for so long with plenty of reasons but yet refused to give out a cent," commented Facebook user Yeow H Tan on Mr Lim's post.

Over a year into the COVID-19 pandemic, the recovery of Singapore’s hotel and tourism industry still has a long way to go due to the uneven situations in different parts of the world, hindering international travel, and the relaxation of border restrictions.
The tourism and hospitality sectors have been some of the hardest hit ever since the implementation of the circuit breaker period in Singapore in 2020, as almost all incoming travel to the island state was prohibited. Whilst some businesses managed to continue operating under strict safety measures, others had to shut down for a period of time.

Why the world's ultra-rich are parking their money in S'pore, explained

Observers of financial and business news in Singapore might have noticed a trend in recent times — the world's wealthiest individuals are increasingly setting up shop on our tiny island.
In the past few years, we've seen Google co-founder Sergey Brin, British inventor and entrepreneur James Dyson, and son of Haidilao founders Zhang Hanzhi setting up family offices, and buying property here.
What are "family offices"?
Family offices are described by
Investopedia as being advisory firms that manage the finances or investments of an affluent individual or family.
In other words, if you're a rich person with lots of money that you want to preserve for your lifetime and the next few generations, you might set up one of these offices to help you do that.
