First locally built Gowind corvette joins Egyptian Navy
defenceWeb Written by Guy Martin - The ENS Port Said. Alexandria Shipyard has delivered the first locally built Gowind 2500 corvette, ENS Port Said, to the Egyptian Navy. The handover ceremony took place at Alexandria Shipyard on 6 January in the presence of the Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Navy, Vice Admiral Ahmed Khaled Hassan. The ship then sailed to its home base in Alexandria. Alexandria Shipyard said the vessel (976) was launched in September 2018 and is the first modern warship to be built in Egypt.
