'No major incidents' in KZN following shutdown threats

There were no major incidents in KwaZulu-Natal or the elsewhere in the country following threats of a national shutdown on Friday.
Social media had been a buzz since the start of the week following the sharing of unverified posters calling for a national shut down.
In the latest news in South Africa on Saturday 11 June 2022, no significant incidents took place despite the call for a National Shutdown.
"Those behind these messages are warned and reminded that prohibiting people's freedom of movement is a criminal offence," said police spokesperson Col Athlenda Mathe.
Incidents of looting have been reported in parts of KZN especially in Durban and Ladysmith ahead of the planned National Shutdown.
