Anitta’s influence and fanbase already reaches far and wide, and her newest release should serve to give it a big boost. The Brazilian singer drops her first English language single, “Girl From Rio,” with a music video to boot, giving us the double dose dip into her coming album.
The song is a trap-pop song that features the familiar sounds of an old-timey commercial, like something you’d see on “WandaVision.” The track is an ode to her upbringing in Rio de Janeiro, shining light on the fun-loving culture while also commenting on some of the less fun stuff, like teen pregnancy and poverty. For Brazilians, it’s like a party pack of trivia, interspersed with some Portuguese lyrics.
