WHO/Europe | HealthBuddy+ launched in Bulgaria and North Macedonia to combat COVID-19 misinformation

27-05-2021
WHO
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the spread of misinformation – amplified on social media and other digital platforms – has proved to be as much of a threat to global public health as the virus itself. Misinformation is harmful to people’s health and it can cost lives. HealthBuddy+ was launched online in May 2020 by WHO/Europe and UNICEF ECARO to help debunk false claims about the virus while supporting the dissemination of truthful information on COVID-19 in the European Region.
Since its launch, the tool has been adapted for use as an app (launched in October 2020) and made available in 20 languages. Now, the digital tool has been introduced in two more countries in the Region – Bulgaria and North Macedonia.

FNE Market Analysis 2020: BULGARIA - FilmNewEurope.com

Yana Marinova and Luiza Grigorova-Makariev in Wildlings by Martin Makariev
SOFIA: Critical for culture and film worldwide, the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 was equally difficult for the film industry in Bulgaria.
The first severe restrictions of social and cultural life came after the vote of the Bulgarian Parliament in favour of a state of emergency from 13 March 2020, imposing a lockdown for a month. All culture and entertainment venues including cinemas were obliged to close.
As a result, only days after the official announcement of its 2020 lineup, the Sofia FF had to postpone its 24th edition, which was about to kick off on 12 March 2020 and to be followed by the 17th Sofia Meetings.
