Two men who are on bail in connection with a high-profile murder which occurred in 2016, are assisting police with investigations into the shooting death of Acting Station Sergeant Newton Lewis. That was the plea of a tearful David Blenman, father of the deceased, in the No. 2 Supreme Court yesterday during his victim impact statement. He said if any other punishment was handed down, he would feel as though he himself had been murdered, especially since his son was ripped from his family in such a horrific way.
Jamar Antonio Pile, 30; his sister Faith Angelica Pile, 25; and Faith’s boyfriend Shaquan Sherwin Omar Crichlow, 23, all of Skeete’s Road, Jackmans, St Michael, had pleaded guilty at an earlier session of the Continuous Sittings to the non-capital murder of Blenman, 26, of No. 46 Golden Mile, St Peter, between November 30 and December 1, 2016. ....

Article by Social Share The Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) is awaiting the outcome of a meeting between Minister of Labour Colin Jordan and management of Preconco Ltd to determine the next step the union would take in the labour issue that developed at the company yesterday. BWU General Secretary Toni Moore visited the workers outside the Lears Road, Jackmans, St Michael company this morning to discuss the situation. Moore said the issue was no longer a Preconco workers’ problem but an infringement of trade union laws, making it a legal and national workers’ issue. She said the situation should not have to develop into a demonstration but she was prepared to rally the members of the union if need be. ....
