Playing from the lower bracket may take a longer route to the MPL Philippines Season 7 championship, but Execration, Work Auster Force, Onic PH and Nexplay Esports are all eager to spark a Cinderella run.
However, two of them will have their title bids snapped out right in the first round of the playoffs.
League veterans Execration and Onic will face each other in a rematch of last season’s battle for third place while young guns Work and NXP fight for tournament life.

Even before the Regular Season started, coach Laurenz “Lift” Ruiz’s Work has been tagged as a strong contender especially with its flawless performance during the qualifiers. And the new kids on the block lived up to the hype as they almost snatched the Group A second seed against defending champion and their scrim partner Bren Esports only to lose in the head-to-head record.

Smart Omega has parted ways with its longtime Mobile Legends: Bang Bang coach Steven “DaleDalus” Vitug on Tuesday night, February 2.
“We are announcing the departure of Coach Dale as our coach. Although we have to walk a different path, the friendship that we built will never end,” the esports organization said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.
Daedalus, 24, steered Omega’s campaign in the recently concluded M2 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship held in Singapore.
The MPL Philippines Season 6 runner-up swept its matches in the group stage for an upper bracket spot but failed to win a series and even a single game in the playoffs, resulting in a 5th-6th place finish in the 12-team world tournament which was won by fellow Filipino team Bren Esports.
