Replacing Seats on a No Top YJ - JeepForum.com

Replacing Seats on a No Top YJ

Replacing Seats on a No Top YJ
Before I start, I'd like to say that I have read just about every YJ seat swap thread I could find. Doing the swap isn't the question I have. At least not until I get stuck lol.
Since I am going to go topless almost full time with only a bimini/safari top, I'm thinking about weather. Located in SoCal, so rain isn't a huge issue, but I still don't want to ruin seats when it inevitably does.
Leather will probably be too hot with this sun. Will cloth get ruined with rain or sun? I see a lot of people use the neoprene seat covers. Are there other better choices out there?

Differential exterior cleaning and blasting

Differential exterior cleaning and blasting

Suspension: Stock
Happy Easter!
I'm thinking of having my axles re-geared with new bearings etc at East Coast Gear Supply (I live in NC, not too far from ECGS and would not have to ship). I don't have the skills or tools to re-gear myself and certainly wouldn't want my first re-gear attempt be on these diffs. ECGS will of course do all the mechanical work, but do not do any cleaning (blasting) or painting. They prefer to work on complete units that have not been disassembled and this is understandable.
I was thinking about cleaning, sand blasting, and painting the differential exteriors before taking to ECGS and I'm sure they would like to work on nice clean units. Can they be completely assembled when blasted? Is there much trouble keeping media out of the brakes, axle and yolk bearings and seals? Is it possible to do a first class paint job on assembled units. I also plan to replace and/or rebuild all brake components.

Rochester 2SE Carb Adjustment - JeepForum.com

Rochester 2SE Carb Adjustment
Hello,
First time posting here, I have a 1980 cj5 I’m getting up and running again after a number of years. It’s running ok but didn’t pass emissions with high co2. I believe it’s running rich idle seems a little high, would like to try and adjust the carb but cannot seem to find the screws to adjust fuel/air mixture.
It’s an Rochester 2se carb with the 2.5 liter 4 cylinder motor. Here is an Amazon link of the carb, can someone help me find the location of the adjustment screw(s)?
Been following for a bit and seems there are quite a few knowledgeable folks on here, appreciate any help you can provide. Cant find much about this carb in the manuals I think they only put this motor in few a few years.

I recently tried to install a new Smittybilt (#9870215) top onto a new Rampage (#69999) frame kit and it appears that the frame will need to be modified to fit the top. This really irritates me and I am asking for some advice... maybe I am doing something wrong? Thanks

Is this worth $2k? - JeepForum.com

Is this worth $2k?
I am close to pulling the trigger on a WK2 Limited 4x4. I have two options that I’m considering. The first is a 2014 with 82,000 miles. One owner, always in the SE (no salt damage to worry about) and one accident reported (seems to have been on the dealer lot before it was ever sold).
The second one is a 2015 with 52,000 miles plus the tow package. One owner, no accidents, in MA or OH. Costs $2k more for a year newer, 30,000 less miles, and the tow package. That seems like the better option. Am I wrong? Why or why not?

T5 Rebuild Advice/Suggestions - JeepForum.com

T5 Rebuild Advice/Suggestions
Tires: 31 BFG All Terrains
Wheels: I think they are Dodge wheels
Armor: Front Bumper, rear bumper, spray in bed liner color match.
Accessories: New Dash, Stereo, new seats
Future Mods: Rebuild transmission, New outer paint, fender flares, seals, possible 8" subwoofer
T5 Rebuild Advice/Suggestions
Looks like I am finally going to have my transmission rebuilt (I have to manually hold it in 4th) and am wondering a few things to make sure I am getting this done correctly.
I just had to replace the cylinder head last year so the engine is pretty much taken care of.

Hood louvers - JeepForum.com

Hood louvers
Hood louvers
Living in the high desert presents and interesting challenge in keeping cars cool so I have been looking for some hood louvers that fit the WJ and found some that seemed to fit the bill on ebay. They came in the mail today and I wanted to share, I really like the look and they fit the hood well. Hopefully they will help with cooling during the hot summer months here in the high desert.
I am looking at doing something similar with mine.
Everytime I go up to the mountains and drive a steep section at low speeds the engine warms up a little too much. I don't like letting the needle got past halfway.

4.0 lifter replacement - JeepForum.com

4.0 lifter replacement
So, starting to think about replacing all my lifters. When I start in the morning I'm getting pretty bad clatter from one or two, then after it warms up it quiets down quit a bit.
I've had the pan off, and I don't suspect piston slap because there is no chafing in the cylinders, and as I turned it over by hand I didn't see the pistons rocking.
When I pull the head, do I just unbolt the exhaust and pull the whole thing? Or do I pull the manifolds? I will be doing this by myself, so not sure of the weight of the whole assembly, not looking to pull a nut.

How bad is this? Dana 44 LSD Clutch slip (pics)

How bad is this? Dana 44 LSD Clutch slip (pics)
Went to change the diff oil and discovered this misaligned clutch plate. It looks like it’s been wearing down the housing.
Can I close it back up and deal with this another time? Jeep’s been driving great no problems.

Jeep is not being wheeled these days just driving around town.
I could rebuild / replace the clutch pack but I think the housing is my concern. If I put new plates in will the same thing keep happening? Seems like the tab of the last clutch pack piece has started slipping out of the housing slot. Almost like there’s not enough pressure to keep it in place?
