Apple offers a special API to Zoom that no other developer has access to

One of the limitations of Zoom on iPad is its unavailability of use when accessing it in Split View. To counter this, Apple has given Zoom access to a special iPadOS API. This API allows the app to use the iPad camera while using the app in Split View multitasking mode.
Zoom has become an indispensable part of work culture amidst the rise of the work-from-home environment during the pandemic. Several people use the app on iPad, which brings some limitations. Now, Apple is giving some special attention to Zoom to solve one of its biggest issues.
The latest development comes from app developer Jeremy Provost who wrote a blog post explaining how Zoom uses a special API that allows the app to continue using and accessing the ‌iPad‌ camera while the app is being used in Split View mode. The video calling app can do this thanks to an “entitlement,” which gives developers the ability to execute a particular capability with an API.

Saturday Night Live, the price of Dogecoin crashed by just under a third at the start of the show, bouncing back a little before falling even more later. Robinhood warned of delays — a good sign that trading was particularly … vigorous.
The
self-described Dogefather called the virtual currency a “hustle” at one point during
SNL’s Weekend Update (while playing a character, for the record), and it could be the case that some long-time Dogecoin holders would want to pull out investments anyway, when interest had piqued during a nationwide TV show.
Even if cryptocurrency — and DogeCoin — remains a high-risk investment, serious business transactions are going down, and the latest involves, surprise, Musk’s SpaceX.

As you may have guessed, with access to this feature, Zoom users have the advantage to use the Split View multitasking various apps like Twitter or other apps to do whatever they want to.

Zoom, the popular online meeting app, was given access to a private camera API that allowed Zoom to access the camera while multitasking on iPadOS.
Apple’s ‘favoritism’ of giving special developers access to private APIs has been under the light for quite a while now. Recently, an email disclosed that Apple gave Hulu access to a private App Store API. Now, app developer Jeremy Provost has explained how Apple gave Zoom access to a special camera API.
The private API used by Zoom allowed the meeting app to continue using the camera during the multitasking screen. Currently, if you use apps that access the camera, like WhatsApp and Google Meet, in Split Mode, the camera turns off as soon as you switch to the other app. Apple says this is due to the ‘privacy’ concerns.

The feature was discovered by mobile developer Jeremy Provost, who said that he was "surprised to see that Zoom had somehow been able to tap into using the camera during iPad Split View multitasking." That currently isn't an API-level feature for developers, and Apple has not made any announcement related to the functionality.
Provost notes that it's useful for teleconferencing, since it allows users to view notes or presentations while on a video call.
Provost said his team reached out to Zoom and the teleconferencing company responded, revealing the existence of an apparently "private process" open to a select number of developers.
