Rickie Fowler posted a bogey-free, 7-under 64 Thursday and held a share of the lead after the first day at the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minn.
Fowler and Troy Merritt were tied at 7 under when play was suspended Thursday evening. After a two-plus-hour lightning delay, not all players were able to finish their first round before dark.
Fowler, searching for his first PGA Tour win since February 2019, started on the back nine and strung together three birdies around the turn at Nos. 18, 1 and 2, including a 29-foot birdie putt he converted on the first.

Séamus Power in Sony Open action after Vegas' withdrawal

Seamus Power will get to start the new year earlier than expected after earning a late call-up for this weekâs Sony Open in Hawaii.
The Irish Olympian made it in as first reserve after Jhonattan Vegasâ withdrawal due to a positive Covid-19 test.
It will be Powerâs fourth start in the Sony Open in Hawaii.
He tied for 49th in 2017 before following a tied 54th finish in 2018 with a missed cut in 2019.
Powerâs last appearance on the PGA Tour was a tied-37th finish at the Bermuda Championship in November.
Power will join Talor Gooch and Bill Haas on the 10th tee at 5.30pm Irish time on Thursday where he will be the only Irish player in the field
