A team of researchers at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) have come up with a bipedal robot that performs the twin function of walking and flying. Named Leonardo, the part-walking robot, part-flying drone is built in such a way that it can balance itself on a slackline, hop around, or even ride a skateboard.
Roboticists from Caltech have created a bipedal robot with propeller arms that can slackline and skateboard. The multi-modal design lets the robot, LEONARDO, walk and fly.
Researchers at Caltech have built LEO, a bipedal robot that combines walking with flying to create a new type of agile and nimble locomotion.
A new robot developed at Caltech pioneers a hybrid form of locomotion.
LEO was developed from parts found around the lab, including from two-legged robots and drones, by engineers from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena.
