IQALUIT, Nunavut - Nunavut will no longer offer lab-confirmed testing for communities with COVID-19 to free up health-care resources.
The Government of Nunavut said Wednesday that five elders tested positive for COVID-19 at the Embassy West West seniors living facility in Ottawa. A bilingual staff member is being sent "to ensure our Elders receive the best possible care and support."
Rapid testing turned up several positive COVID-19 results at the Embassy West senior living facility in Ottawa, where some Nunavummiut elders live.
Nunavut's health minister says a range of health staff, including nurses, will be required to provide proof that they've been vaccinated against COVID-19 by Jan. 10.
