The Joint Action Civil Society Coalition/Nigeria Mourns has called on Nigerians to participate in a series of mass action across the country on May 26 against the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to indicate their disavowal with the insecurity sweeping across the country.
The coalition of 127 civil society groups issued the statement yesterday titled: State of the Nation: A Call to President Muhammadu Buhari to Stop the Bleeding and Take Action to End the carnage.

No fewer than 128 civil society organisations (CSOs) under the aegis of Joint Action Civil Society Coalition/Nigerian Mourns Sunday said almost 2,000 fatalities were recorded between January and March due to the rising spate of armed attacks, banditry and insurgencies across the federation.
With these increasing atrocious incidents nationwide, the coalition challenged President Muhammadu Buhari and 36 state governors to rise up to their constitutional duties and put an end to Insecurity as enshrined in section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution to ensure the security and welfare of all Nigerians.
This was revealed in a statement issued by the coalition Sunday, calling on all Nigerians to register their displeasure with the state of affairs across the country by participating in a series of mass actions from May 26.

Civil Society Organisations in Nigeria have petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari to, as a matter of urgency, stop the escalating security concerns in the country.
They further alarmed that the first quarter of 2021 witnessed an all-time high fatalities mass atrocity incidences across the country.

Vanguard revealed that “Following its sharp increase of 43 per cent in mass atrocities 2020, Nigeria has continued to experience a decline in security across the nation. In the first quarter of 2021 (January to March), we recorded an all-time quarterly high of almost 2000 fatalities from mass atrocities incidents across the country. This week, across the 6 geopolitical zones, there were escalated combustions of violence resulting in even more deaths.
