Sydney FC end winless run against Western United

Playing in his 200th A-League game, Socceroos fullback Grant rounded off a fine 47th-minute move to slide the ball home in Wednesday's match at Netstrata Jubilee Oval.
He doubled the half-time lead Sydney earned through an 18th minute penalty from Bobo as the Sky Blues were good value for their win.
The victory - Sydney's first in five games - lifted Sydney to seventh level on points with Brisbane, who held on to sixth by virtue of having scored more goals than the Sydneysiders.
United finished with 10 men after veteran defender Andrew Durante caught Jordan Swibel with a hand to the face in additional time.

Barbarouses strikes twice as Sydney edge Phoenix

Sydney FC star Kosta Barbarouses eroded any doubts about his confidence levels by scoring twice in a 2-1 victory A-League win over Wellington.
The 30-year-old celebrated his first brace in two years against his former side at Kogarah, ending a dry spell of just one goal for the season for the league champions.
Pressure was mounting after scoring just once against Western United three weeks ago off a penalty, which ended a 15-game streak without a goal.
However, the New Zealand striker showed his class in both goals in Monday night's win.
The first came off a supreme pass from Alexander Baumjohann, who had been elevated to the starting side for the first time this season.

'His intelligence is at another level' – Ninkovic earns Milicic praise in starring role against the Bulls

Ninkovic nets a brilliant solo goal past Adam Federici
As Milicic dissected Ninkovic's ability to inflict defeat on his side on the night, he could just as easily have been praising the performance of his own player had the Serbian made the move from the Sky Blues to the A-League newcomers for their inaugural campaign.
But the move never eventuated, leaving Corica with a player he hopes will continue to fill his boots with similarly well-taken goals throughout the 2020/21 A-League campaign.
“Ninko is quality, you saw it again tonight,” Corica said.
“It was even a bit of a change of pace for him as well, straight through the middle.

Macarthur Bulls burned by Ninkovic in derby defeat

Earlier in the week, Ninkovic admitted he'd been close to signing with the A-League's newest franchise at the end of 2019 after a meeting with coach Ante Milicic.
He eventually re-signed with the Sky Blues instead.
And in a dramatic game in which there was an hour-long delay at halftime, Ninkovic reminded the Bulls just what they had missed out on.

In the 76th minute, the Sky Blues were leading 1-0 when Ninkovic slipped through the defence and slotted in what was effectively the deciding goal.
It capped off a rough night for the Bulls that started when they lost their skipper Mark Milligan to a red card in the 21st minute when he took down Trent Buhagiar with a wild kick.

Sydney FC star Milos Ninkovic has burned Macarthur a second time after scoring against the A-League team he almost joined.
Macarthur coach Ante Milicic has lauded the class of would-be signing Ninkovic after he burned the Bulls again, netting a vital goal for Sydney FC in their 3-0 win at Campbelltown Stadium.
Earlier in the week, Ninkovic admitted he’d been close to signing with the A-League’s newest franchise at the end of 2019 after a meeting with Milicic.
