Freeze Warnings have been issued for the Baton Rouge area.

The weather story of the week will be unseasonably hot temperatures, including the potential for record highs. A meaningful drop on thermometers is not expected until at least early next week.  

Tropical Storm Earl has formed in the central Atlantic Ocean, near the Leeward Islands. As a center of circulation has gradually become better defined over the last few days, pressure has fallen and winds have increased beyond 39mph to classify the system as a tropical storm.

A *FLOOD WATCH* has been issued for East Feliciana, northern Tangipahoa, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena and West Feliciana parishes as well as Amite, Pike and Wilkinson counties through Wednesday evening. Runoff from excessive rainfall may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches with locally higher amounts of 3 or more inches and high rainfall rates of 2 to 4 inches per hour will occur over already saturated soils tonight and tomorrow.  Any heavy rainfall that occurs is expected to quickly run off into area ...

Though no washouts are expected this weekend, have a plan to step inside for a short time as pop-up thunderstorms will be around. Next week will continue a wet trend.
