The third phase of Lok Sabha polls in West Bengal witnessed sporadic incidents of violence in four constituencies. TMC, BJP, and Congress workers clashed in different areas of Murshidabad and Jangipur seats.
During the last elections, the contest in Amethi grabbed national attention as Rahul Gandhi, faced a tough challenge from BJP leader Smriti Irani. Smriti emerged victorious with a significant margin of over one lakh votes.
“Shri Rahul Gandhi has resorted to falsehood and defamed the Office of the V-Cs with the intent to derive political mileage..It is earnestly prayed that appropriate action be taken against him...,” the V-Cs said. UP Congress President Ajay Rai said, “The V-Cs are not being appointed on their calibre and experience, but on the number of days they have worked for the ‘sangh’..."
The party aims to build on its strong performance in the previous Lok Sabha elections, winning 25 of the state's 28 seats. Anything less than this would be seen as a setback. Achieving a similar or better result is crucial for the BJP to strengthen its position in the state and challenge the current Congress-led government.
