Mandaluyong judge red-tagged after releasing journalist, union organizer

endIndex:
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 17) — A Mandaluyong judge was red-tagged in a tarpaulin along Shaw Boulevard near EDSA after she ordered the release of a journalist and a union organizer.
Mandaluyong Regional Trial Court Branch 209 Judge Monique Quisumbing Ignacio earlier cleared journalist Lady Ann Salem and trade unionist Rodrigo Esparago of charges of illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
Bayan Muna Rep. Ferdinand Gaite criticized the attack against Quisumbing-Ignacio.
"The Courts are under attack! After PNP's attempt to profile HR lawyers, now we're seeing harassment vs. judges who expose their flawed searches!" Gaite posted on Twitter along with a photo of the tarpaulin.

CHR hits poster red-tagging Mandaluyong judge who freed journo, trade unionist

The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) on Wednesday decried a tarpaulin linking Mandaluyong Regional Trial Court Branch 209 Judge Monique Quisumbing-Ignacio to communists over her order to release a detained journalist and trade unionist.
“Such incriminating claims in the tarpaulin that links Judge Quisumbing-Ignacio to the Communist Party of the Philippines without any specific and verifiable evidence exposes her to grave danger,” CHR spokesperson Jacqueline de Guia said in a statement.
Earlier this month, Judge Quisumbing-Ignacio ordered the release of journalist Lady Ann Salem and trade unionist Rodrigo Esparago, who were among those arrested in a controversial series of raids that supposedly yielded illegal firearms.

Rights defenders score another victory against ‘copy-paste’ search warrants

MANILA – For the third time, another local court invalidated the search warrants used to arrest human rights defenders.
In a decision dated Feb. 18, Judge Ana Celeste P. Bernad of Bacolod City Regional Trial Court Branch 42 granted the motions to quash search warrants and suppress evidence filed by Karina Mae De La Cerna, Cherryl Catalogo, and John Milton Lozande.
The accused were all arrested in Bacolod City on October 31, 2019 by virtue of search warrants issued by Judge Cecilyn Burgos-Villavert of RTC Quezon City. They were charged with illegal possession of firearms and explosives.

It said Romina Astudillo, Mark Ryan Cruz, Joel Demate, Jayme Gregorio and Dennise Velasco were arrested and charged like Salem and Esparago.
