The GST Authority for Advance Rulings (AAR) in Karnataka has ruled that Juspay Technologies, the company behind the ride-hailing app 'Namma Yatri,' is considered an e-commerce operator under GST regulations. However, the AAR clarified that Juspay Technologies is not required to collect and remit GST on transportation fares, as the supply of passenger transportation does not occur "through" their platform.
The company has been testing the feature for over a month within its app for employees and a few users under the name 'Ola ONDC food', sources told Moneycontrol
The announcement comes while Namma Yatri is celebrating its drivers collectively earning more than Rs 100 crore without paying any stipulated commission amount. The application built in partnership with Bengaluru’s auto drivers by Juspay Technologies has a community of 89,000+ drivers and is currently serving over 17 lakh customers.
