Manipur CM inaugurates 30-bedded psychiatry ward in JNIMS

Our CorrespondentImphal, June 11 (EMN): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated a 30-bedded psychiatry ward, public shed and child care centre at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) on Saturday. Addressing the inaugural function, Singh expressed happiness for the cleanliness around JNIMS campus and highlighted that ‘an inclination towards maintaining professional ethics is also visible in the institute’. Asserting that the institute was lagging behind in terms of infrastructure and equipment, and not in terms of talents, he said that the government is trying to provide all necessities and informed that efforts are on to inaugurate the boys and girls hostel and hand it over to the institute before June 30. Expressing the need for an engineering cell in the institute, he stressed that ‘the present government is mission oriented and very much committed to public welfare and bringing positive changes in all sectors, be it in education, tourism or health, etc’. Manipur CM's 'Health for All' scheme screens more than 1 lakh individuals

Our Correspondent Imphal, June 12 (EMN): More than one lakh individuals have been screened for 10 non-communicable diseases (NCD) diseases under Manipur’s Chief Minister’s ‘Health for All’, a door-to-door healthcare service scheme, which is the first of its kind in Northeast India, Manipur health officials said today. “After the introduction of ‘Chief Minister’s Health for All’ or CMHA to the population, so far 1,41,519 persons have been screened for 10 NCD diseases with primary focus on diabetes and hypertension diseases,” Director Dr. K Rajo Singh of the Manipur Health services department said. “We’ve covered 613 villages which are linked to 155 health and wellness centres.” Apart from detection, treatment and follow-up, the beneficiaries under CMHA would be given medicines at their doorsteps. The scheme would especially benefit elderly patients above 60 years, bed-ridden patients and NCD patients, who are not on regular follow-up or who have not visited health centres due to financial or physical problems. Manipur records no new COVID-19 case from May 13 till date

Our Correspondent Imphal, May 23 (EMN): Manipur reported no new COVID-19 cases from May 13 till date, according to state health officials. According to the state COVID-19 Common Control Room, the last three persons infected by the virus recovered on May 13. The number of recovered cases in Manipur was 1, 35,110 as of Sunday. On Monday, the state recorded a recovery rate of 98.45 percent. The overall caseload in Manipur stands at 1,37,230, while the death toll is 2,120. Director of the health services, Dr. K Rajo Singh informed this reporter on Sunday that ‘the state is almost like a COVID-free state as the state has witnessed no new positive cases for the past few days’, while urging all to continue practicing COVID appropriate behaviours. The department can announce that the disease is contained in the state if the present status persists till Thursday, he added. On the vaccination status of the state, he informed that 61 percent beneficiaries have been administered the first dose, while the second dose has been administered to 51 per cent beneficiaries.
