Two children reportedly suffered minor injuries when a crude bomb they were playing with exploded at their house near Iritty in the district on Tuesday morning.
According to the police, the children found the crude bomb in their field and brought it home to play, thinking that it was a ball. The bomb exploded when they bounced it on the ground.
In the incident, brothers Muhammad Ameen, 5, Muhammad Raheed, 1½, of Pattikachal near Iritty were injured, police said.
The window panes of the house were also damaged in the incident. They were immediately taken to a private hospital in Iritty and Ameen was later shifted to the Kannur Medical College Hospital.

Kasargod, Jan 25: The post-mortem report of Mohammed Rafiq (49) who reportedly died after having been beaten up by a gang at Ashwini Nagar here, says that he died out of heart attack.
The report mentions that there are no external injury marks caused by the alleged attack. The Report also says that no internal injuries too were found. The report prepared by the surgeon of Kannur Medical College Hospital stated that Mohammed Rafiq suffered a heart attack due to assault and there were three blocks in his artery. This information was given by Kasargod town police circle inspector P Rajesh.

Kasargod, Jan 6: In connection with the recovery of the body of an 18-month-old baby from a well, Badiadka police have arrested the mother of the baby, who happens to be the accused.
The arrested lady has been identified as Sharada (25), a resident of Katukukke Perlathadka in Perla. The mortal remains of Sharada's young son Swasthik, had been found from a well near her home on December 4. Her husband Babu, was away working as a coolie when the incident happened. After noticing that the child had gone missing, the people of the area had launched a search operation during which the baby's body was found from a discarded well located some distance from its home.

Kasargod, Dec 10: The decomposed body of a lab assistant of the central university at Peria in the district was found from a rivulet on Wednesday December 9. The deceased has been identified as Jisna Baby (26), wife of Sharath Mathew, resident of Kanhangad South.
The body was found from Orcha rivulet at Nileshwar on Wednesday evening. But its identity could not be established. After the photos of the mortal remains appeared in some social media sites, relatives observed them and identified the victim.
