‘Karnataka govt takes 30% cut from grants for mutts’: Top Lingayat seer alleges corruption - A top Lingayat seer in Karnataka has made a big corruption claim, saying that monasteries have to pay 30 percent cut to get grants.
The government has been demanding 30% commission on the amount set aside for welfare and development of religious institutions, claimed Dingaleshwara Swami.
Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai said that his government takes Dingaleshwar Swamiji's allegations "very seriously."
Amid allegations of corruption by government officials, Karnataka CM has asked Lingayat seer for proof. Earlier, Dingaleswara Swamy had said even mutts had to pay a 30 per cent cut to receive government grants.
According to the preliminary investigation, Santosh K. Patil died by suicide and blamed the minister in messages that he sent to his friends.
