Residents of Lien Mac village in Hanoi’s Bac Tu Liem district have been busy collecting discarded materials such as ceramics, bottles, and dishes to decorate the village’s streets.
Starting in last November, villagers began using use fragments of old vases, dishes, and bowls that had been thrown away to create a ceramic wall along an alleyway. More than 20 mosaic walls have now been completed, helping to beautify the village.

Prosthetics for Injured Animals

Prosthetics for Injured Animals
Historically, artificial devices for wildlife have been expensive and very time-consuming to produce. 3D printing is changing that calculus by making it easier to design and build better-fitting prosthetics.

When caregivers at the Weltvogelpark Walsrode bird park in Germany returned to the aviary one morning, they were heartsick to discover that a secretary bird they called Söckchen, or “Little Sock,” had broken her leg inside her enclosure. They guessed that something must have scared her and made her jump, causing a severe break.
Secretary birds (Sagittarius serpentarius) need their legs. Found in Africa’s savannas, they are large, mostly terrestrial birds; their strong, sturdy legs are vital not only for walking but for capturing snakes and other prey. Often, they hunt by stomping the ground to flush out animals, then run them down and strike with their beak or feet to stun or kill them. In the wild, the loss of a leg would be a death sentence. And in captivity it was a severe debilitation. With her leg severed, Söckchen became depressed, was not eating well, and rarely walked about.

Efforts against COVID-19 shored up by Chinese vaccines and testing aid
Cambodians are drawing on support from China to make strides in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic, with donated vaccines serving as the cornerstone of the country's strategy.
"China's assistance is very significant and valuable for Cambodia," said a Phnom Penh-based international relations expert surnamed Chap. The help from China is timely as "Cambodia is facing a big challenge in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic". That help also extends to the provision of testing equipment.

A long-awaited Geographical Indication (GI) certificate handover ceremony for “Mondulkiri wild honey” scheduled for April 6 was postponed in light of the February 20 community transmission.
Made in the northeastern province’s forested areas from the Apis dorsata bee, the Ministry of Commerce domestically registered the honey as a GI on January 29, improving prospects of a brighter future for the golden, viscous fluid.
Mondulkiri wild honey became the fourth domestic GI product after Kampot pepper, Kampong Speu palm sugar and Koh Trong pomelos.

In Phnom Penh, governor Khuong Sreng urged residents to stay home and refrain from travelling to other provinces.
He noted that the 8pm-5am curfew scheduled to end on April 14 could be extended if people are careless in the lead-up to the holiday and the virus continues to spread.
