Danny Karnik/Associated Press
There are many breakout candidates beyond the usual suspects going into the NFL's 2021 season.
Onlookers know the big names: Joe Burrow, D'Andre Swift, Mecole Hardman and even Jalen Hurts.
But a handful of proverbial under-the-radar players share many of the same traits as the top breakout candidates, such as improved surroundings, developmental upswing, hints of production and plenty of reason to project quite a bit more.
The one thing they lack? Name recognition, sheer hype or some combination of both.
Otherwise, the following players have just as much breakout potential as any of the other big names and should have fans watching them carefully this coming year.

Le'Veon Bell, Todd Gurley's Best Landing Spots After 2021 NFL Draft Day 2

Kevin Sabitus/Associated Press
In today's age of football, it is a win for the running back position to see two players picked in the first round of the NFL draft.
That was the case Thursday in the opening round of the 2021 draft when the Pittsburgh Steelers selected Alabama's Najee Harris with the No. 24 pick and the Jacksonville Jaguars picked Clemson's Travis Etienne with the No. 25 pick.
It didn't take long for another running back to come off the board Friday when the Denver Broncos selected North Carolina's Javonte Williams with the third pick of the second round.
That's when the momentum ended, as no other running back came off the board until the San Francisco 49ers took Ohio State's Trey Sermon with the No. 88 overall pick in the middle of the third round.

Gurley had a down year in 2020, appearing in 15 games for the Atlanta Falcons—his first campaign with a franchise other than the Rams. He posted 678 rushing yards and nine touchdowns and added 164 receiving yards, career-lows in every category.
It seems that his status as a must-have is back—like in the 2017 and 2018 seasons, when he posted 1,250-yard campaigns and led the league in touchdowns en route to All-Pro nods in both seasons. That makes him a lock for several teams who may be in need of running back depth behind a go-to player at the position.

NFL Players with the Most to Prove Ahead of 2022 Free Agency

We're in the midst of the 2021 NFL offseason, and the start of 2022 free agency is a long way away. However, it's not too early to look ahead at the players likely to be available.
You can bet teams are eyeing potential 2022 free-agent targets, while players are anticipating big paydays. Some players, though, have work to do to draw the interest of teams and maximize their value.
We'll examine eight players who are scheduled to hit the open market next year but have plenty to prove this season. Whether they're trying to reestablish themselves as starters, overcome injuries or prove that prominent past production was no fluke, they have plenty riding on the 2021 regular season.

Updated Needs for Every NFL Team Entering 2021 NFL Draft

Justin Edmonds/Associated Press
A lively debate ensued on social media in recent weeks (what's new?) over the viability of taking one position over another high in the draft.
The topic centered on whether the Cincinnati Bengals should select the top offensive tackle or wide receiver with this year's fifth overall pick
Whichever way a person leans in this particular discussion doesn't really matter, because the truth is the team needs to address both positions. It's not an either/or situation.
The conversation serves as a microcosm of what every organization is currently contemplating.
Even with the opportunity to address problem areas through trades and free agency
