Allow the well-to-do get the commercial Covid-19 vaccines

OPINION
I had the chance to be vaccinated against coronavirus in mid-March when Kiambu Governor James Nyoro also got the jab, but I was not. I was at the county headquarters when the governor and his staff left for the vaccination at nearby Kiambu level five hospital.
I regretted not joining them that night, but as President Uhuru Kenyatta said while launching the drive, I was not ready or willing to be vaccinated. Many other Kenyans held a wait-and-see attitude and vaccination centres were virtually empty as Ministry of Health officials urged them to take the jab. By the time I made up my mind, most people appeared to have also realised the vaccine was good for them and the rush was on. People travelled far in search of the life-saving vaccine.

Kanu Chairman Gideon Moi has urged residents of Githunguri, Kiambu County, to support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) during the referendum.
While enumerating the benefits of the Bill to the common mwananchi when he drummed up support for the process, the Baringo senator also called for sobriety during the campaign period.
The Bill is expected to be tabled in Parliament next week.
“The County Assemblies did their part and we are happy with the results. I want to request you to be ready to vote for the document once it is brought to you,” said Gideon.

Uhuru Eulogises Late Juja MP Waititu As A Patriotic Servant Leader

Uhuru Eulogises Late Juja MP Waititu As A Patriotic Servant Leader
President Uhuru Kenyatta Tuesday remembered the late Juja MP Francis Munyua Waititu as a patriotic leader who demonstrated all attributes of true servant leadership.
Speaking during MP Waititu’s burial service at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) grounds in Juja, Kiambu County, the President said the departed politician generously served all people without discrimination.
“He never failed to do good. He never waited to be asked for help but rather he willingly offered to support anyone who was in need. He would offer support before being asked,” President Kenyatta said.

President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday declared that he was in charge amid sustained pressure by his allies to kick out his deputy William Ruto for opposing his pet project, the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
The visibly angry president said he had listened to political talk for six hours, adding that no political figure would stand on his way to leave a peaceful and united country when he retires next year.
“When a lion has been rained on, don’t confuse it for a cat. Everything has its time. Those making noise and writing letters, let them continue but I want to make it clear that I am in charge and in control and I know where I am going,” said Uhuru.
