Police are investigating whether the death of an 11-month-old girl found unresponsive in a car by her mother on Wednesday was a tragic accident.
Despite immediate attempts to save the baby’s life by people at the Kingsway Christian College campus in the Perth suburb of Darch, and three ambulance crews rushing to the scene soon after the mother ran inside for help, the child was unable to be resuscitated.

A Perth school where an 11-month-baby girl was found dead has issued a statement about the tragedy, describing it as the "most awful of circumstances".
The baby girl was found unresponsive in her mother's car at the college in Darch on Wednesday night.
Principal Peter Burton said: "Words cannot begin to express the depth of sadness we feel as a result of what, at this time, appears to be the accidental death late yesterday afternoon of an 11-month-old child.

Baby girl 'was accidently left in a car by her mother when the tragedy unfolded'


An 11-month-old baby girl who was tragically found dead inside the grounds of a private school was accidentally left inside a car by her mother, police believe. 
Detectives think the mother was in the process of dropping off or collecting another child at an after-hours childcare facility when the tragic accident unfolded.
The school, Kingsway Christian College in Darth, Perth, is yet to publicly comment on the disturbing discovery made on Wednesday afternoon.

How long the baby was allegedly left unattended in the car is not known, The West Australian reported.

Baby who died at Perth school was 'found in car by mother', police say

An 11-month-old girl who was found dead at Kingsway Christian College in Perth's north last night was found unresponsive in a car by her mother, police say.
Police Commissioner Chris Dawson said the child's 39-year-old mother took the baby into the school in Darch after finding her.
He said despite immediate healthcare, the baby was unable to be resuscitated.
"The police are investigating the death of that child," Commissioner Dawson said, adding that the investigation was not yet complete.
Commissioner Dawson said the mother was at the school either collecting or dropping off another child.
He did not want to speculate about how long the child was in the car for, but said as part of the investigation, police were looking into whether the death could be related to an accident.
