A trial for Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's defamation lawsuit against The Online Citizen (TOC) editor Terry Xu concluded yesterday after Mr Xu's lawyer Lim Tean briefly questioned Ms Kwa Kim Li, who prepared six wills for the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
She took the stand in the afternoon, after her application to set aside a subpoena was denied by Justice Audrey Lim in the morning.
Ms Kwa, a managing partner at the Lee and Lee law firm, is the niece of the late founding prime minister's wife Kwa Geok Choo.
While she had prepared Mr Lee Kuan Yew's first six wills, Ms Kwa was cut out off the communications for his seventh and final will. She has previously said that she did not prepare the last will.

SINGAPORE - Senior lawyer Lee Suet Fern has been suspended for 15 months by the Court of Three Judges over her handling of the last will of her late father-in-law Lee Kuan Yew.
In a written judgment released on Friday (Nov 20), the highest disciplinary body for the legal profession found Mrs Lee guilty of misconduct unbefitting an advocate and solicitor, saying that she had “blindly followed the directions of her husband, a significant beneficiary under the very will whose execution she helped to rush through”.

The Court of Three Judges, the highest disciplinary body for the legal profession, found senior lawyer Lee Suet Fern, 62, guilty of "misconduct unbefitting an advocate and solicitor", for preparing and executing the will which is seen as a gain for her husband, Lee Hsien Yang, the prime minister's younger brother.

SINGAPORE, Aug 14 — Judges presiding over Mrs Lee Suet Fern's disciplinary hearing yesterday focused their attention on a particular rule — that a lawyer shall not act for a client who intends to make a significant gift by will to any member of her family — in questioning her defence that it would have been hard for her to say no to Lee Kuan Yew.
