Lafayette's Rain Barrel Program is happening now and will continue through May 9, 2021.
The program is conducted by Lafayette Consolidated Governmentâs Public Works Department and Lafayette Utilities System.
Since it's start in 2013, the program has offered a way for residents of Lafayette Parish to save money, conserve water and reduce stormwater runoff.
According to LCG, residents in unincorporated areas of Lafayette Parish and City of Lafayette qualify for one barrel per residence at the subsidized price of $34.50. Additional barrels, or barrels sold to residents outside of LCGâs jurisdiction, may be purchased for $49.50.

May 9 is the deadline for residents of the city of Lafayette and unincorporated areas to sign up for a rain barrel at the subsidized price of $34.50.
If you love flowers, or if you have a vegetable garden, these barrels are a great way to catch rainwater to nourish the projects in your yard.
By having a rain barrel you can conserve water and save yourself money. You won't have to use the hose to water your plants and veggies.
According to a press release from the Lafayette Consolidated Government, rain barrels also help to reduce the amount of stormwater runoff.
