New Lake County animal shelter has busy first week
TAVARES — The new Lake County Animal Shelter is open. The facility off Highway 448 in Tavares opened its doors last week and has already placed around 90 animals to their forever homes, just in time for Christmas. “We are excited to get as many homes for our homeless pets for the holidays as we possibly can,” Director Whitney Boylston said. “We’re excited that the 90 pets we’ve placed in the last few days will all have homes for the holidays.” The 24,775 square-foot facility, which can hold 165 dogs and more than 100 cats, was expected to open in the fall, but due to the pandemi...
