Around 6,000 pilgrims completed 'darshan' inside the holy cave on the 29th day of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra while another batch of 1,974 embarked on the journey. This year's yatra, which began on July 1, has seen more than 3.8 lakh pilgrims visit the Himalayan cave shrine. Thirty-six pilgrims have died during the yatra so far. The pilgrimage can be accessed through an uphill trek of 43 km from the south Kashmir Pahalgam base camp or a 14 km uphill trek from the north Kashmir Baltal base camp.

Since the Yatra began on July 1, over 3.77 lakh people have taken part. Another 2,050 pilgrims were escorted on Saturday, with 36 pilgrims dying during the Yatra so far. The shrine houses an ice stalagmite structure that symbolises Lord Shiva, and pilgrims travel uphill to reach it, either from the Pahalgam or the Baltal base camps. The Amarnath Yatra ends on August 31.
