Wollman and Lasker rinks in Central Park won't close early

CENTRAL PARK, Manhattan (WABC) -- Two Central Park ice rinks operated by the Trump Organization that were set to close early will instead remain open for the rest of the season.
The decision is a reversal from Mayor Bill de Blasio's administration that announced last month it would terminate business contracts with President Donald Trump after the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
The Trump Organization said this week that that meant the contracts for the Wollman and Lasker rinks that were set to expire in April, instead would end after Sunday.
Then the mayor's Press Secretary Bill Neidhardt said in a statement Sunday:

Wollman and Lasker rinks in Central Park will close more than a month early, Trump Org. says

CENTRAL PARK, Manhattan (WABC) -- The Trump Organization says New York City is forcing it to close the two ice skating rinks it manages in Central Park Sunday, more than a month before they'd normally wrap up for the season.
The City moved to terminate its concession contracts with The Trump Organization following the deadly riot at the Capitol.
The contracts for the Wollman and Lasker rinks were set to expire in April, but the City reportedly moved the date up to February 26.
This means an early end to skating programs that serve low-income children and people with special needs.
